    Mercury Shiva lingam

    Namaste all,
After I moved into my new place I didn't pooja to Lord Shiva for almost 5 months now and today when I took the Shiva lingam out I saw small patch of it peeled out (I bought it in one of the Shiva temples in bangalore at Kempfort). I have been thinking for sometime to buy a genuine Shiva lingam made of mercury. Could anyone suggest a good place to buy if in bangalore that would be great . Any other place is ok. I don't believe in buying online so please tell me any physical store where I can get genuine Shiva lingam made of mercury.

Also once I have that lingam can I dispose the one I already have? If yes how should I do?

    Thank you all.

Vannakkam rdg: I'm not sure what you mean by 'genuine'. I think all sellers will tell you theirs is 'genuine. I've heard that you can test a narmada lingam (naturally formed in the Narmada) by rolling it on a flat surface. It should wobble slightly. One made on a lathe wouldn't wobble, although I suppose if someone knew what I just said, they could grind one side down a touch.

Best wishes in finding one you're happy with.

Vannakkam rdg: It's very tricky this. What store is going to stand up and say? ... "I'm sorry but we're not credible. We're just a bunch of fakes."

There are established mutts around B'lore like Adi Chinchinagiri (spelling is way off I'm sure) or a Kailas Ashram (Sri Trichy swami) I think. Perhaps they could help. (Kailash Ashram Mahasamsthana, at Sri Rajeswari Nagara, Kenchanahalli, Bangalore, India) I think Sri Trichy swami is now deceased, but a successor (Bangalanathaswami?) is in place.
