    Namaste All,

Now that I've got to thinking of this little guy, I miss him dearly; might I introduce you to Bugsy ...

    A very smart, highly affectionate Ferret with a passion for carrier bags, and a constant need for friendly contact;
this little Ferret would come and ask for cuddles, and come charging ready to play, at the slightest sound of a
    rustled carrier bag!

Don't be mistaken by his small size, on one occasion he scared off a Staffordshire Bull Terrier; much to the
    dismay of his accompanying human.

I've had 3 ferrets, 2 girls and a boy. All were rescues. I lost my 2 little girls to very aggressive forms of cancer. I did everything I could working with the veterinarians (exotics specialists) to no avail. I had to give my little boy away because I couldn't give him the out-of-cage playtime he needed.

Ferrets are adorable, and little clowns, but they are the mischief. The word ferret comes from Latin furritus, little thief. And little thieves they are. Things go missing and it's not until you do a thorough house cleaning that you find the ferret's stash, and your stuff.

I cried over my little girls because they suffered, and treating them stressed them even more. During one medication session one of my little girls wet herself. I knew it was time to stop. One is gone over a year, and the other is almost a year. I still cry when I think too much about it. To that end, I will stop writing now.

    Namaste TBTL,

Yes they are real characters, but with week constitutions,; so sorry to hear of your loss as well. We get so attached to these little guys
as they have so much character. I think that a little to much domestication, has taken its toll over the years. Polecats, with the mask,
like Bugsy are generally a little stronger due to being crossed more recently with the wild American skunk.

In French they are called "Furret" which in old French means thief as well; I have heard that they were banned for certain
    periods, for this very reason!

Yes, it's the overbreeding. "That large ferret breeding and supplies organization" in the US (no names please ) is nothing more than a ferret mill, not unlike puppy mills. In the wild ferrets/polecats can live 13-14 years. These little guys average 6-7 years. It's the in-breeding and overbreeding. And for that, it tears out our hearts.

Just see the beautiful cows of India!
We have our birth Mother, our Devi Mother, and yes - isn't She Beautiful!
She is Mother, not a pet! And She is Beautiful!

Thumbs Up Re: Saivism and Pets

When Indra demanded that Yudhisthir abandon his dog so that he could enter Heaven, Yudhisthir refused. It turns out that his father, Dharma, had taken the form of the dog. Both of them were accepted into Indralok.

Definitely, Lord Shiva as Prajapati, loves all animals.

Our dog, Samson, would quietly lie beside us in front of our altar during puja.

Why would we deprive him of the benefits of puja?

    Pranam,

    Devi
