Vannakkam: My elder brother was (and still is) a tinkerer. He bought an old Model A car frame, found a Chrysler transmission, and used a 60 era Chevy muscle engine. For a long time he tinkered with it, a prelude to a career in mechanical engineering and owning a machine shop where he favoured custom built construction jobs where he could put his creativity to use.

I was only 13 or so but watched him work meticulously on the thing for a couple years through high school, and on into first couple years of university. We'd sit in it together and daydream of driving it in a custom auto parade. The thing was a beauty. With that huge engine and lightweight body, we figured it would steal the show, and really hum, in the era of muscle cars.

Trouble is, he never could configure the thing to make its wheels roll. He shoulda just bought a Chevy ... or a Ford ... or a Chrysler. It would have worked.
