Why We Pull Ear Lobes?

I noticed that it is sort of getting too serious around here, and so it's time to have some fun!

I have a REAL question that may require some "serious" but interesting good conversation...

WHY DO WE PULL OUR EAR LOBES?

I know that we do so to say "I'm Sorry!", but seriously... it is spreading across the world, and what are we trying to do by this and why????

For me, I feel like I am trying to look like Ganesh.

Or are we trying to look like Prince Buddha with big rings in the ear lobe???

And to add to this question, is there any reference to any great Saint or Yogi pulling the ear lobes with both hands to say "I'm Sorry!" ???

Vannakkam SF: Eventually, out of habit, a person tends to forget the reasons. You just do it because it 'feels right' or just as an automatic response. So its good to have reminders like this because frankly, I had forgotten, although I do it every time I approach Him. So thanks.
