The Muslim Princess who Loved Krishna

Has anyone heard of the story of a Muslim Princess who fell in love with Krishna? It is said that after sacking a temple, a Muslim King gave the Murthi of Sri Ranganathar (or Sri Aranganathan) as a “toy” to his daughter the young Muslim Princess. But she become so attached to the Murthi, that she fell in love with Krishna. Her enraged father demanded she only practice the Muslim faith, but unwilling to give up her love she eventually merged into the Murthi itself.

Does anyone know the details of this? There are temples which have this story as part of the iconography and temple records. Is there any basis in it? It would have significance if so. And also, if true, then we see a case of a non-caste, a Muslim, so loved by the Lord that Deva allowed her to merge instantly into His form.

There are two famous mulsim princess fallen in love with Shri Ranga!

One is Bibi Naachiyar - Related to the lovely CheluvaNarayana of Melkote.

Another one is, daugther of the demon maliKafur -Surathani who is also called as Thulukka Naachiyar whose heart was stolen by Shri Ranganatha.

God has only one religion which is Love.

To me, this story is illustrative of the accessibility of Shriman Naaraayana. He is so accessible that even a follower of a mleccha culture could escape the deluding influence of her fallen birth and perform sharaNAgati. It is humbling to those of us who have not had His grace, despite our other advantages.

In the end, He is attracted to pure devotion only.

The SriRangam temple is said to have 'Pranavakaara Vimana', and that SriRanganatha inside to have been brought from Satyaloka. No doubt people find him enchanting!
