Sanatana Dharma ki Jai!
Jai Hanuman
Namaste Yajvan ji,
I referred and found out that Tanmatras and Mahabhutas refer to the following:
The 5 Tanmatras (Subtle Energies of matter):
Shabda - Sound
Sparsha - Touch
Roopa - Form
Rasa - Taste
Gandha - Smell
The 5 Mahabhutas (Elements):
Akasha - Space
Vayu - Air
Agni - Fire
Apa - Water
Prithvi - Earth
Now, coming to your observation that we are mixing apples and oranges when we say "The sky (akasha) is born out of Sound" -- this is where my confusion arises - Is it wrong to say the same? I just recently heard this in an upanyasa (of how panchabhutas are formed).
EDIT: By 'Sound', I am referring to the 'OM' - the 'Pranava', to be the source of Akasha. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks.

Namaste,
There are two possible scenarios as far as I can see,
1. Brahman --> Prakrithi and Purusha --> Tanmatras, Panchabhuthas, Jnanendriyas, Karmendriyas, Prana, Manas, Buddhi, ahankar --> illusory world of empirical reality --> Big Bang --> Darwin's evolution.
2. Big Bang --> Darwin's evolution --> Human Beings --> Brain --> Consciousness.
I lean towards the first scenario depending on the available evidence from science and religion but irrespective of this evolution by Natural Selection or the Darwin's theory of evolution is a fact.
Hari Bol!
So then, according to science, consciousness is coming from stone...
Im not satying darwins theory is wrong, he just left out consciousness
